Prayer of Confession | Sunday, September 25, 2022

Dear Father,

You are the Almighty God, who speaks reality into being. All that we know is called forth from Your power.
Truth is Your voice. Power is Your hand. Holiness is Your dwelling place.

Yet, Lord, we are filled with doubt. We have doubted Your goodness and have become discontent, coveting what was not ours. We have doubted Your presence and stole from others. We have doubted Your holiness and believed our hate for our neighbor was not really murder and indulging in the images on the computer was not really adultery. We have doubted Your love for truth and bore false witness. We have doubted Your fatherhood and dishonored our parents. We have doubted Your existence and spewed out Your name in vain, worshipped the creation instead of the Creator, made Your day common, and we have sought out other gods. We even think we are not seeking other gods, as we believe our own voice over the voice of our God.

Teach us good discernment and knowledge, For we believe in Your commandments. Before we were afflicted we went astray, But now we will keep Your word. You are good and You do good; Teach us Your statutes. Revive us according to Your faithfulness, So that we may keep the testimony of Your mouth.

Forever, LORD, Your word stands in heaven. Your faithfulness continues throughout generations; You established the earth, and it stands. They stand this day by Your ordinances, For all things are Your servants.

If Your Law had not been our delight, Then we would have perished in our misery.

We will never forget Your precepts, For by them You have revived us. We are Yours, save us; For we have sought Your precepts.  Let our soul live that it may praise You, And let Your ordinances help us. We have wandered about like a lost sheep; search for Your people, For we will not forget Your commandments. May these things be true for us Lord, in Your power, and in Your power we ask these things in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
